I have waited for the time to start my first hunt
As my father would laugh as he would say here comes the runt
My brother would come in with his hunt of the day
And tell the story of how he almost didn’t get away
For there was a mighty gray wolf that came after him
But he found a cave and block the hole so it couldn’t come in
The family was happy for we had a great feast
And thank the spirits that protected him from the beast
As I pick up my bow my father would just give me a glance
And my mother would cry for she didn’t think I would even have a chance
But it was time for me to make a stand
And to prove to the family I have become a man
So off to the forest as I started my quest
As I heard the spirits say you will do your best
Then I saw the wolf as it was foaming at the mouth
And I knew this was the one that my brother talked about
My heart was bounding as I pulled back the bow
As I heard the spirit say wait for it’s not time to let go
I watched the arrow while it went flying through the air
And remember the time my father would hold me in the chair
As I walk into the camp with the wolf at my side
Everyone was surprised that I was still alive
But the stories will be told how I made my first score
And became the might warrior never to be called the runt anymore
