GONE FISHING

I grab my pole and tackle box as I head for the lake

I hear mom say now son don’t be out to late

But the weather is great so I hurry to set out the poles

Because I know all of the best fishing holes

The sun feels warm as it hits my face

As I look across the wide open space

I wonder what it was like here many years ago

For the trees have grown and the rock have a shiny glow

The grass has been cut down so the crop can be planted

And the edge of the banks have been laid with granite

My heart begins to beat as I watch the pole starts to bend

As I give out a yell for help from my friend

The struggle has started as the line began to race out

But I was determined to win this great bout

My friend jump into the water with a net at his side

As we pulled out the trophy I almost started to cry

All the people began to clap at the end of this fight

As I hold in my hands a beautiful sight

So the story will be told as we think of the past

The fish that gave me the greatest blast
