We sit and think that the new year will give us such a great cheer
Because we make a list and hope it will help wipe away the sad tear
The problems we face is always one of our greatest test
As it make us stronger to do our very best
To learn that we can’t change what happened in the past
Is the first step to knowing that our spirit will last
Our knowledge can be used to help teach the young
As they think their problems have just begun
The eyes will roll when you want to share
Because they think we really don’t even care
I have heard the words that you really do understand
As we take a moment to wonder if life has really been that grand
But the sun will rise and the day will begin
And yes some trouble will come and start it all over again
So our spirit is like the stars in the night
To help us become stronger to put up a good fight
So maybe we can start off the new year in a different way
And pass our knowledge on to help someone have a great day
