There have been times that we were so sad
While sitting at the table with nothing made us so mad
Most of the money we had went to pay bills
But there were times we wrapped ourselves with a blanket from the cold chill
Then one day a man came by and left a small box
And to our surprise it was filled with rocks
So I spent the day polishing them to a bright shine
And when I finished, they looked so fine
We would sit at the corner selling our treasures
As we would make a dime that gave us much pleasure
Now the years have passed to remember the time
That we made it through life with hardly a dime
While listening to the pastor while he reads how our sins have been forgiven
And some day we will be able to talk to GOD while standing in heaven
