We ask the children to go out into the yard
spend some time playing so is that so hard
they question why they can’t get a tone
as they want to hit us with a stone
then the question is asked as they stand at the edge of the hill
and blame us for they think we didn’t pay the bill
there is no tv or radio playing over the air
while they shake their fist and give a hard stare
we watch the setting of the big sun
and the street becomes quiet as the car can’t run
mom pulls out a flash light but there isn’t any light
and you can here in the streets the people are starting to fight
mom yells to go and pick up all of the dead sticks
and stack them by the fire place made of brick
there is a policeman riding a bike telling us to be strong
as they try to figure out what went wrong
the schools have talk about how to cripple our way of life
buy dropping an EMP so we couldn’t give a strong fight
so now it the time for us to get back to the time
when we use to hunt and fish and live without a dime
