It’s been a long time since I have seen your eyes
As the day goes on it makes me want to cry
I have made some plans on how we will go out to play
As to let you know daddy is here to stay
I have shared with my buddies about my pride and joy
But God has to remind me your not a toy
I sit and read some books to past the time
And think how it will be holding you while listing to the church chimes
I promise to be the father I never had
As to think how it was then does make me sad
Maybe some day soon we will go and get some ice cream
When I feel you in my arms I will know this isn’t just a dream
