STORIES OF THE OLD

It has been a long time since the headdress has come on

For I have learned how the white man lies just for fun

It was always told in the stories of the past

How their world would never last

To promise is just a word to get them by

As my spirit has learned and it wants to cry

I sat in the circle and listen to the stories from the old

How they would help and bring us blankets when it gets cold

They sent food to us so we could fee the old

But to tell of the rotten parts were never told

They talk how there would be room for all in this land to have a happy life

But we see how the rules have been twisted to stab us like a dull knife

Now we see the white man’s world is counting on piles of paper work

For they say to do this and do that but it makes us fell like a jerk

The old ways have been taken away and it has weaken our soul

We can hear the cry of our God but he doesn’t say I told you so

As my tear hit the ground it makes a funny sound

For we don’t have the paper work to stand our ground

but the white man will speaks and tell you that it will take some time

So you need to fill out these 22 forms and maybe we will give you a shiny dime

A forked tongue is just a forked tongue

As we see that the paper work will never get done
