THE BARTENDER

A person walks into the bar wanting a drink

Not knowing what they need makes me want to think

As you listen they start to tell you how their life is so bad

Looking into their eyes you can tell they are really sad

While standing at the jukebox singing with the song

Making a comment on how everything has gone wrong

They act like they are dancing to the songs beat

While they start to stumble going to their seat

If they humbled their pride it would make them surprised

Because there are family and friends that will stand by their side

Starting to yell that they need another drink

Their words become sluggish and they don’t even stop to think

You can tell them that the drink won’t make things right

But the whiskey makes them so bold and want to fight

Starting to talk out loud how their life is so rough

Is when it’s time for me to say that’s enough

Watching as he heads to the door trying to leave

I reached out and grabbed his hand asking for the car keys

Trying to stop him when he shows me a fisted hand

But if something happened it could cost me more than a grand

So the question is if you want everything to work out tonight

You should stay away from the booze and Christ will help you to win this fight
