The air is cool when the sun begins to rise
Wondering if this day will be a great surprise
There are many tasks that need to get done
And they must be finished before I can have any fun
As I take a short break and sit under the old tree
I hear a soft voice singing in the warm breeze
The voice gets louder when I start to stand
As I see my friend holding out a warm hand
You need some help to finish this job he asked
So we can go to the lake to have a blast
Well the weeds need pulled and the animals feed
When the clouds begin to form and turn a deep red
The lighting starts to flash in the west
As we finished our task knowing we have done our best
So we sit on the porch and talk about the day
Watching it rain that spoiled our chance to play
The sky gets darker as it is getting late
With the help of my friend today was a piece of cake
But even though we didn’t get to have some fun
We know that it was all in a day’s work that needed done
