As a kid we seem to have on a strange mask
Because as we played we never wonder or even ask
About the color of our skin or the way we would talk
As we would laugh even as we would go for a walk
We would share our toys when we played in the dirt
And be concerned if one of us got hurt
As a kid we were never told the worlds facts
How things are determined by the color of our backs
As we get older the sad change begins in our life
We change our feelings and this isn’t right
But if their is a war and we would be sent out to fight
We would forget the color and fight together just to make it through the night
Maybe a task for us would be to learn from the past
To work together to keep our freedom to last
If we work like a kid when we were having so much fun
and change the mistakes the old adults have done
The challenge is work to make this a great world for our children to enjoy
Just so they can go out to play with there new toy
